Job Description
About the Role
Join GPA’s Engineering team and kick-start your career by working on projects that drive progress in critical industries. You will be under the guidance of experienced process engineers and will work on multiple projects in a variety of industries. The work you do will be valuable for the completion of the projects and you will be encouraged to take ownership of the work you are doing. You will be a valued member of both the process and project teams, working with multiple disciplines.
You'll gain hands-on experience, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and develop technical and professional skills essential for your future success. Tasks typically include:
Marking up engineering drawings such as P&IDs (piping and instrumentation diagrams) and C&Es (cause and effects matrices)
Completing process calculations such as line sizing, hydraulics, control valve and relief valve sizing
Using HYSYS or PetroSim software for process simulation
Using Phast software for gas dispersion and consequence modelling, e.g., to determine hazardous areas
Creating or updating documents such as basis of design documents, FEED (front end engineering design) reports or hazardous area classification reports
Attendance at risk workshops such as HAZOPs (hazard and operability studies) and LOPA (layers of protection analysis).

We are seeking passionate undergraduate engineers eager to kick-start their careers. To be considered for this placement, you will:
Hold a degree in Chemical/Process Engineering (applicants can be recent graduates or graduating in 2025).
Be interested in engineering design and the industries we work in
Demonstrate a strong academic record and a willingness to learn
Show excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills
Have effective communication and organisational abilities
Have a proactive and flexible attitude towards learning and adapting
Not be afraid to ask questions
