Job Description

About the Role

GPA is looking for an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer who is ready to join a growing team and develop their skills to the next level, specifically around;

  • Modelling of LV power systems in PowerCad including maximum demand, fault level, cable sizing and protection device sizing calculations
  • Designing and preparing electrical drawings including; SLD’s, MCC schematics, cable block diagrams, wiring & termination diagrams
  • Specifying and preparing equipment datasheets for a range of electrical equipment; including transformers, MCCs, VSDs, DBs, instruments, etc.
  • Preparing key schedules including; cable schedules, MTO’s
  • Writing and preparing reports and scope of works for construction
  • I&C design work as required to support the I&C team
  • Assisting with project scoping and management including liaising with vendors, clients and stakeholders
  • Assisting with and reviewing multidisciplinary deliverables including; P&ID’s, plot plans, layouts, installation details, equipment datasheets, etc.
  • Support construction of assets and provide commissioning
  • Willingness to travel and work on site when required

Desired Skills and Experience

Ideally, your skills and experience will include the following:

  • Proven technical experience in Oil and Gas, Mining, Renewables, Power Generation or similar industries along with a sound understanding of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008 & AS/NZS 3010.
  • Understanding of and experience in applying AS/NZS 60079.14 is highly desirable.
  • Experience in LV detailed design and project engineering is essential. 
  • Experience in the design & specification of instrumentation and control systems is highly desirable.
  • You’ll be a critical thinker with great attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills and technical calculation abilities. Your report writing skills will be highly developed.
  • You will have an Australian recognised engineering degree that satisfies the entry requirements for Chartered membership in the Engineers Australia.

A requirement for this role is to complete a satisfactory pre-employment medical and Australian police clearance.
